Crafts: Game of Thrones Pouch

Prints available for purchase from Etsy.
"This pouch is completely handmade of 4 oz vegetable tanned leather. Everything you see is all hand tooled, the pouch is also hand-stitched. The famous "Winter is Coming" phrase was burned into the leather using a wood burning tool, I think it came out quite nicely. I also installed a metal swing clasp with antique finish to give an aged look to it. The belt loop riveted to the back has a snap fastener that fits any belt or strap size. The leather itself is very sturdy and fairly rigid with burnished edges and dyed with a dark brown antique dye to really bring out the details. I dragged the applicator across the leather to give it a wood grain look.

I used Super Sheen finish to protect the leather and make it water resistant."

Woodwork: Laser Engraved Westeros Map

Maps available for purchase from Etsy. US$978.38

This fan-made 3D wooden map was laser engraved by DivergnDesigns out of the small town of Bathurst located in the Central West of NSW, Australia.

The map is gigantic, two meters across and over a meter tall.  It's mounted in an aluminum frame for easy mounting.  The back-board and is finished in a natural red-tinged Amerind Lauan ply featuring engraved contours, inner rivers, locations, compass and boats.

The map details 334 Westeros and Essos locations, twenty-six of which are portrayed with an engraved icon. It also features engraved animals, over 1900 trees, and individual islands as small as 4mm in diameter.  The 3D effect is enhanced by mountain ranges consisting of up to five contour height-derived layers, all unique in shape providing saddles, peaks and plateaus with engraved mountain ranges varying in styles and sizes.

The entire piece is sealed with multiple coats of Polycrylic to protect it against wear, tear, and light moisture.

Alternate takes on the American Civil War have been a literary niche for a while now, covering angles from the survival of President Lincoln to the South winning the war. Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will continue that peculiar institution with a future HBO series titled Confederate.

Author Chuck Wendig gives you a handy top 10 list article to help you Survive and keep creating Art, in this unfurling Age of Dumb "Everything is dumb right now. From nose to tail, we have become the dumbest, saddest pig at the county fair. Historians will not refer to this period as THE DARK AGES, but rather, THE DUMB AGES. The greatest question I get, right now, is how to simply persist creating art and staying motivated and creative in this epoch of syphilitic dipshittery, so I thought I’d bop in here and try my hand at answering that."

Every once in a while I come across an Etsy gallery I love from beginning to end. Tom Ryan's Studio is one of them. If I had two hundred bucks to drop on posters or a landlord reasonable to take payment in used posters, this gallery would be plastered across my wall as we speak. Alas, the closest I'll ever come is plastering Tom Ryan's work across my blog.  Hopefully, someone out there will be able to send some of the business I can't afford to send his way.

The 25 most influential people on the internet, according to TIME Magazine.

All the Marvel Superheroes Who Should Die in Avengers: Infinity War “Time to kill some superheroes! Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed to JoBlo that Avengers: Infinity War will be the last appearance for some central figures of the MCU, which means they might shuffle off their mortal capes or retire to their secret, woodsy homes… or alien planets or state-of-the-art mansion towers. But hopefully a bunch will get killed. Don’t look at me like that! Marvel needs to show some stakes, especially if the long-promised fight against Thanos is going to live up to the hype as something on a scale we’ve never seen before. Considering their longevity, significance, and power, here are the heroes of Infinity War, ranked by killability.”

Mural: Darth Vader Tree House

Created for Powwowhawaii. Located in Hawaii.

This isn't Wooden Wave's only Star Wars mural by a long shot, but in my opinion, it's the best.  I'd love to see this design turned into a model.

Mural: Shattering Light Bulb

Shattering Light Bulb Mural by Onur
Created for the Mural Festival in Montreal, Canada

Onur is a Swiss-born artist best known for photorealistic murals and collages.  Many of his pieces incorporate ultra-violet paint that imbues his projects with a high-tech air.

In his latest series, the artist explores the impact of the present, stressful every-day life to the human psychology, in which he depicts objects like traffic lights, crossroads and garbage bags emerging from heads of an ordinary man.

In 2013, Onur created together with artist Wes21 a big mural at the 5 Pointz Building in New York City. In 2014 he participated in the Richmond Mural Project in Richmond,VA. He was part of one of the most famous campaigns for Volvo and he has also collaborated with German and rapper legend, Kool Savas.

Sweets: Adventure Time Cake Pops

"I created these fun Adventure Time cake pops for an international cake collaboration called Cakeflix. Check out some of the other amazing cakes on the facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/cakeflixcoll...

I started these cake pops with a batch of vanilla cake. After breaking it up into a fine crumb, I added about half a cup of Earl Grey White chocolate ganache. I formed the dough into balls and various shapes for the various characters. Using some melted chocolate, I added a stick to each one and chilled for just a couple of minutes.

I dipped each cake pop in its respective colour and then added facial details and hair using modelling chocolate.

I created this tutorial for you guys while I was making these cake pops in hope it might help you create your next cake pop project."

Sweets: Deadpool Rides A Unicorn

This incredible cake, created for the international Cake Con Collaboration features an adorable Deadpool riding a unicorn like the end credits of the feature film.
"Not only was the Deadpool movie made in Vancouver, but Ryan Renolds is from Vancouver, so Deadpool was the perfect comic character. The first time I saw the movie, I instantly wanted to make a deadpoool and unicorn cake, and I finally got to make it! He is a little raunchy and very humorous, but I think he has a sweet side too! He is a little banged up and dirty, but mostly all healed up and enjoying a ride through the clouds with his trusty friend the unicorn."

Sweets: Deadpool Cake

If this isn't the best superhero cake I've ever seen, it's in the top five. Not that I'm jealous.

Metalwork: Trash into Transformers

This video centers around a talented father and son team who build Transformers statues from scrap metal.  The video comes from Great Big Story and it's part of their "Passing The Torch" series.
"In 2010, Chinese farmer Yu Zhilin and his son Yu Lingyun opened up their own metalworking shop in the country's Hunan Province. Inspired by the futuristic robots from the movie “Transformers,” the pair began fashioning original statues from scrap metal. Their first design took about a month and a half to build, but they’ve since created an impressive array of statues, giving new life to discarded car parts along the way. It’s not just the success of their new business that makes this father-son duo happy; the craft itself has brought them closer together."

Illustration: Inside the Tree Fort

Check out this incredible cutaway illustration of the interior of Finn and Jake's tree fort from Adventure Time.  He includes a ridiculous amount of detail, introducing a whole new level of realism to the cartoon universe.  I’ll include the complete pictures below as well as some enlarged versions of certain sections so you can all admire it for yourself.  Degtyarev has larger versions on his ArtStation page, but I'm very sad to say that he doesn't offer any poster prints for purchase.  I'd certainly buy one if he did.
"If you ever wonder the structure of Finn and Jake’s house from Adventure Time, then here is the answer! The detailed cut-away illustration, showing living floors, secrets and abandoned areas. With lovely main characters hanging around."

Lego Creations: Metal Gear Solid REX

Metal Gear Solid REX V.2 by Ragnarock01

Okay, I'm not the world's biggest Metal Gear Solid fan, but this model is damn impressive.

Lego Creations: Venator Mark III Star Destroyer

Via: MOCpages

Even if I had the money for the pieces, I'd never have the talent to design a Lego model like this.  It's all I can do to assemble the more complex sets from the directions provided without swearing up a blue streak.  I do love to gaze upon the eyecandy of others' creations, though, and this is a beauty.  Follow the link for more in-depth descriptions.
"This is a theoretical version I created of the Venator Mark III Star Destroyer. There is a Mark II class on Wikipedia already, so I made this the Mark III version developed just before the Imperial Class Star Destroyer.

For those die hard Star Wars fans, this does not comply with the official lexicon. I was more interested in creating a hypothetic version of the Star Destroyer, which was created from my Star Destroyer and AT AT Walker sets. This version is 44 inches long, 28 inches wide and 17 inches tall. If the original Imperial Star Destroyer set was used as a comparative scale, the Venator Mark III Star Destroyer would be 1900 meters long, 1210 meters wide and 735 meters tall (with the landing gear extended). This makes it significantly larger than the standard Imperial Class Star Destroyer, and quite a bit bigger than the 1,137 meter long Venator Class Star Destroyer. I guess this would qualify as a super carrier."
