Short Film: Self-Assembly

Written by Garret Shanley

"Self-Assembly" is a visually creepy horror film that begins as the story of parental love and frustration only to take a hard left turn into a bizarre coming-of-age story.  The story begins when a grieving mother orders a mysterious product from the Internet. The result is that her life and her husband's go much differently than either of them planned.

Blending simple black-and-white photography with some memorable physical and digital FX work, Sullivan’s bizarre film mixes dark-comedy elements with horror undertones to create a short as absurdly funny as it is unsettling.
"Bereaved parents find a monstrous substitute for their dead son."
