Mexican Standoff

"Mexican Standoff" by Sweden-based Max (Brakkenimation)

Welp.  I'll never have another day's satisfaction in my life,
thanks to the perpetual yearning this has instilled in my heart.

News: Astonishingly, in this year’s ArtPrize, the jury and the people pick the same winner.  For what it's worth, the internet seems to have picked it, too.  There were more photos of the winning piece online in the run up to the competition than of any other three pieces.  Makes you wonder how large a role social media played in this year's decisions.

News: Where is the world’s oldest art? In an Indonesian cave.

A five year old autistic girl named Iris Grace has taken up painting.  Her parents introduced her to painting as a part of her speech therapy, but the quality of her work has attracted global attention.  As a result, her paintings are selling quite well. Iris in action. Originals, prints, and calendars can be purchasedat Iris' website. As if that weren't all internet fodder enough, Iris also has a kitten who is her constant companion named is Thula.

If you don’t make much money selling your art, can you still be a professional "artist?"  The I.R.S. says no, but a court says yes.  The question is, do you really want to go to court to prove it.

If you’re looking for something a bit different in NYC, there’s a stained glass house at Brooklyn Bridge Park.  I'm guess the occupants don't throw stones.

Norway’s new banknotes are "works of art."
