Fan Film: THE VERSE

We all wish that Joss Whedon’s Firefly would get the reboot it so richly deserves, but since it doesn't look like we'll be getting more Firefly any time soon, we're just going to have to make up our own stories.  Loot Crate, the subscription service that delivers geek-centric merchandise to thousands of people every month just released The Verse, a 16 minute short film set in the world of Firefly.

The fan-made film is called "The Verse," and it features a crew of new faces on Firefly class transport ship called "Overland." The film's dialogue and tone very closely imitate the original series, and the characters are clearly based on their Serenity analogs. Shiny!

“The Verse” essentially serves as an advertisement for Loot Crate’s latest offering, which includes a number of Firefly-related goodies. For a $13.37 monthly fee, subscribers receive a themed box filled with all sorts of curios and collector’s items. Past boxes have centered on nerdy pop culture franchises like Game of Thrones, Transformers, and Attack on Titan.
"Written for fans and by fans who are inspired by the beloved cult sci-fi series “Firefly”. An exciting new look at this beloved world featuring a new crew, a new ship and a heaping dose of misbehavin’!"
